Musings of a Math Tutor

10-Week Summer Classes

5/1/2017

Picture
According to Oxford Learning, starting with the first day of school, it can take up to 2 months for the average student’s brain development to get back on track. It’s only human nature to not retain information when it isn’t used on a regular basis.

Easy as PI Tutoring in Mathematics has just the solution to help your student diminish his/her summer math loss!

Beginning in June, Easy as PI Tutoring in Mathematics is offering 10-week math classes! These classes are going to focus on nine specific grade-appropriate math topics to provide a full summer review for students of all ages. The curriculum for each class has been created utilizing various online resources, iPad games, worksheets, hands-on activities, physical games, and puzzles.

Dates and Times:
  • Classes will begin the week of 5 June 2017 and end the week of 7 August 2017.
  • Classes will be held in the afternoon/evenings (4p-8p) Monday through Thursday.
  • Classes will take place at Whetstone Library (Clintonville).
  • Classes will be once a week and each class will be 55 minutes in length.

 Information:
  • Cost and Discounts: The cost is $30/class ($35/class for Test Prep). For those looking for a discount in pricing, we offer a 10-Hour Package deal. Each package is a $15 discount off of the total cost. (NOTE: We still have the option to pay each session individually or to pay for monthly classes.) As always, if cost is an issue, please contact Denni. We never want a student to miss an opportunity to gain math skills due to any financial situation! At Easy as PI Tutoring in Mathematics  "tutoring should never break the bank!"
  • Time Investment: The curriculum will be designed for meeting once a week for 10 weeks. If you wanted to meet more than once a week, we can do two 10-week classes, or we can spend the second session of the week reviewing/reinforcing the information learned in the first class of the week. There are many options.
  • Homework: Students will be assigned a small amount of "outside of class” work for each session. In order to "complete the class" and qualify for the reward at the end of the classes, students will need to have completed 8 of the 9 outside of classwork assignments. There will be no assignment given on the last class.
  • Project: For the 10th class, students will be creating a culminating project to showcase the skills they have mastered over the 9 weeks of class. This final project is also required to "complete the class" and qualify for the reward.
  • Challenges: There will be challenges throughout the course that will allow students to be entered in a drawing. The more challenges met, the more entries. All entries will stay in until the last drawing on Friday 11 August.

Classes:
  • Math Level 1 (G1-G3)
  • Math Level 2 (G4-G5)
  • Math Level 3 (G6-G7)
  • Math Level 4 (G7-G8 without Algebra 1)
  • Algebra 1
  • ACT Math Test Prep
  • SAT Math Test Prep
  • ASVAB Test Prep (all subjects)
